BETTING EXCHANGES A number of betting exchanges exist. The main differences between them tend to be (a) commission rates and (b) prices and liquidity. The main exchange sites, some of which include useful tutorials on how to use them, are as follows. Betfair is probably the largest, most popular and widely used exchange. It covers a multitude of betting markets, not just horse racing and has a user tutorial, a widely used forum and help facilities. Commission rates start at 5% and are discounted for volume trading. Liquidity (money available for backing and laying) is probably highest on Betfair. Click on the Betfair banner above to open an account. RACING INFORMATION SERVICES Information on all aspects of horse racing including racecards, form, market prices, tips and results etc. can particularly be found on the Racing Post and Sporting Life websites. LIVE COMMENTARIES For those of you not glued to the telly and if you're brave enough to listen to your laying races(!!), there's always William Hill Radio, available both online and on the telephone (08712 444666). You'll find their shows to be quite entertaining and sometimes informative but do bear in mind that for reasons of "buffering", their commentaries are normally around 20-30 seconds delayed i.e. don't rely on their commentaries if you intend to lay horses in running.
